Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHSEB) recently announced that it will now follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam pattern.

The new board exam pattern will come into effect from March 2020. Further, GSHSEB will also make changes in the exam pattern of Class 9 and 11 (Science).

List of changes in board exam paper:

1. The board will scrap the Optical Marked Reader (OMR) sheets in the board exams, which were used for the multiple choice questions (MCQ) carrying 50 per cent weightage.
2. 50 per cent MCQs will be replaced with 20 per cent objective questions that has to be answered on the answer sheets itself.
3. The Class 10 board exams weightage will now be 80 per cent instead of 70 per cent.
4. Also, the school-based comprehensive evaluation system has been replaced with internal evaluation.
5. The internal evaluation will now cover 5 marks each for the first exam, notebook submission and 5 marks for subject enrichment activity.
6. As per reports, the 50 per cent MCQs on OMR sheets was introduced in 2011 when the annual examination system was replaced with semester system.
